A New Jersey native who first began his passion for media in Journalism and Broadcasting, attending fellowships with major Philadelphia AM radio stations. He followed this path of broadcast news to West Virginia University, where his time spent with cameras shifted his focus to cinematography, and narrative story telling. His first leap into film making was in Campus Movie Fest hosted at WVU, where he created his first short film. Although the film was not selected, Davis would have multiple accolades from the competition in the following years, earning Top Jury Selection in 2016 through 2019. This is in line of an adage he always follows, “Failure is a great teacher and motivator”.
Right out of High School, Davis enlisted with the Army National Guard, always wanting to serve his Country while chasing his dreams. For three years, the West Virginia National Guard has utilized Davis’ skill set to film and produce a plethora of products for the state of West Virginia. These products ranged from advertising, news packages, documentary work, training videos, live events, and COVID-19 coverage that was picked up and broadcasted on news outlets such as MSNBC, CNN, and multiple channels in the greater Pittsburgh area. Davis’ most recent coverage was of the Evacuation mission known as “Operation Allies Refuge”, where over 5,000 displaced Afghan citizens where evacuated from Kabul, to Camp Buehring, Kuwait. The video products of this mission had a global outreach, spanning multiple countries news outlets and Governments. Sergeant Rohrer has just entered his ninth year of service.
Davis has honed his talent working as a Director of Photography and Director in the music video space and wedding films. He has crafted music related content in West Virginia, Washington D.C., and New York City. These products included live sessions, documentary work, and official music videos. In the Wedding space, Davis’ natural yet cinematic style has produced engaging and heartwarming films for dozens of happy couples on their special day.
Cinematography was his first job in the film world, bringing his striking style to many projects to include short films, documentary work, and two feature films that saw national distribution and special showings on Hallmark and Lifetime. His cinematography has earned multiple accolades in film festivals, and earned him a majority of his work with other creatives, and also the U.S. Army. His use of natural light, lensing knowledge, kinetic movement, and creative use of lighting modification has made his style known and desired.
His top priority is narrative film, both short and feature length. Since 2014, Davis has worked tirelessly to create original short films. In 2017, he managed to produce, write, direct, and edit his first funded short film, “The Edge With us”. This and more have been seen at the Austin Indie Film Festival, The Sundance Creative Minds Fellowship, Campus Movie Fest, MTV, HBO Max spotlights, LA CineFest, and most recently, Dragon Cannes 2. Dragon Cannes 2 was his most recent accomplishment, where he earned first place in a film competition that spanned the entire Department of Defense. His film, “The Reunion”; earned the top prize in the final round. He is currently finalizing, “The Reunion”, with the goal of it being his first feature film.
Creating stories and images that thrive in their natural beauty and energy is what Davis always seeks to achieve. He is a believer that any moment in life can be put to film, it just matters how you present it in a frame. He is currently working into the commercial world, weddings, and producing original products such as narrative films and music videos.
At the age of 28, Davis is currently residing on the east coast after his deployment to Kuwait, actively working in filmmaking. He has two films currently in the fesitval circuit, including The 6 Shops first documentary, “The Last Shot”.
